Weight of Your Words
Hey everyone! Thanks for tuning in to Perilous World Radio. Your host, Alan Masters, and today he wants to dive into a topic that's more relevant than ever: the power of our words.
He was reflecting on a particular passage from the Bible—Matthew 15:11—where Jesus had quite the conversation with the Pharisees. They were all worked up because His disciples didn’t follow their strict ritual of washing hands before a meal. Their focus was on external appearances and rigid rules, and honestly, that mindset still creeps in today, doesn’t it? It’s all about the optics.
But here’s the kicker—Jesus said, “What goes into someone's mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth is what defiles them.” Think about that for a moment! He was reminding us that it’s not the food we consume that defines us; it’s the words we speak and the condition of our hearts.
Alan's been mulling over this idea—our words hold immense weight. How often do we let thoughts slip out of our mouths before truly considering them? He's been guilty of that. There are times he's said things in the heat of the moment, only to regret them almost instantly. Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you’ve said something hurtful to someone you care about, followed by a sinking feeling of regret? I know I have.
What really gets to me is the realization that it’s often our darker impulses that take the reins over our mouths, rather than our higher selves. As I’ve grown older, I’ve made a conscious effort to pay attention to my words—both before and after they leave my lips. It’s an ongoing journey, but recognizing the impact of our speech is the first step towards speaking with intention and kindness.
So, let’s challenge ourselves: let’s be mindful of what spills out of our mouths! Together, we can aim to communicate in a way that uplifts rather than defiles. What do you think? Let’s explore this together!
In a recent segment of Patriot Outreach, Colonel Tony Monaco and Chaplain Jack Le Roy discussed the controversial topic of Nazi Stolen Valor. They highlighted the tendency to make comparisons to Nazi ideologies, particularly Hitlerism, which can lead to radicalization, increased violence, and hinder mutual understanding. The conversation also pointed out perceived parallels in current political parties, such as gun control, censorship, and anti-Semitism. Importantly, they noted that while the right to protest is often mentioned, the Constitution specifically protects peaceful assembly. Additionally, the Pro-Life March was highlighted for its impressive turnout of 100,000 participants without any incidents of violence. Lastly, Senator John Kennedy introduced a bill aimed at redefining organized crime to include the funding of civil unrest and covert lobbying activities.
