Two Kingdoms

Hello everyone, and welcome to another episode of Perilous World Radio! I'm Alan Masters, and this is my wife, Jan. This summer, we're excited to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary—what an incredible milestone! You know, the number 40 comes up a lot in the Bible, often representing a period of testing or growth. It got me thinking about something deeper: the ideas of heaven and hell. Both concepts have their own 'kingdoms,' so to speak, and they can really exist within us. Just think about it—two people might stand next to each other on a subway in New York City, both holding onto the rail. One person might feel angry and carry feelings of hatred, while the other could be filled with peace and love. They’re in the same place, yet their experiences can be completely different. We often see people around us living in a kind of 'hell,' struggling through life. And then there are those who bring joy and positivity. It's a stark contrast, right? Then we hear about troubling news, like someone attacking the White House. It raises questions about what that person was thinking—were they angry with just the administration, or did they have bigger targets in mind? It's perplexing. Ultimately, we each have a choice every day about how we want to live our lives. We can embrace a mindset that leads us towards peace and happiness, or one that brings negativity and despair. It’s all about the inner choices we make.
