The "Great" Awakening
Welcome to another edition of Perilous World Radio. I’m your host, Alan Masters, joined by Brian Bouteller. We recently watched a movie called "The Awakening," which centers on Benjamin Franklin and George Whitfield, a figure I was unfamiliar with until now. The film explores the Great Awakening, a movement led by influential pastors such as George Whitfield, Charles Wesley, and Jonathan Edwards, who greatly impacted early American culture. Their teachings contributed to the desire for freedom from tyranny, ultimately paving the way for the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. The story unfolds about a decade after these founding documents were established, during a crucial state convention.
On today’s segment of Patriot Outreach featuring Colonel Tony Monaco, Kansas State Representative Pat Proctor discussed the urgency for states to act independently of the stalled S.A.V.E. (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility) America Act. This proposed legislation aims to enhance election security by mandating documentary proof of citizenship for voter registration and eliminating mail-ballot "grace periods," ensuring that Election Day remains a fixed date across the United States. Currently, the SAVE America Act faces a roadblock in the US Senate due to a filibuster by Democratic members. However, Kansas is taking proactive measures. Representative Proctor has successfully championed the SAVE Kansas Act, which survived a veto from Democratic Governor Laura Kelly. This new law requires state agencies that provide essential services like food stamps, Medicaid, and welfare to report non-citizens receiving these benefits, preventing them from registering to vote. Additionally, it mandates that the Secretary of State utilize the federal Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) database to ensure non-citizens do not appear on the voter rolls.
