Emotional Chaos

Roy Masters

Emotion is the key to your conditioning, and as they say, “Nothing succeeds like success.” If you couldn’t control yourself the first time, you will have even less control the second, third, and fourth times.

Simply by responding, becoming upset, you deliver the control over your thoughts and feelings into the hands of others. Henceforth they control your moods, and they can manipulate you into rebelling or conforming, whichever suits their purpose.

Suppose someone tells you that you are no good, and you react so violently to the suggestion that it finally becomes a fact. Or you struggle to compensate and free yourself of the suggestion by “showing them.”

Either way, you will have used up your energy playing their game, proving them right or wrong, instead of discovering your own unique purpose on earth.

Pressure and stress are synonyms for the motivation that springs from an evil source. If a person can upset you, he can motivate you, and that fact is the key to all your conflicts.

If you react in a wrong way, you grow in a wrong way. If you react in a right way (by not reacting with emotion at all), you grow from within and unfold like a flower drinking in the sun.

A person grows, not by learning, but by impulse. When you respond in a right way, the source of that response not only governs the way you grow; it reveals itself both to you and to others.

The after-the-fact observation of your growing leads to true understanding, and this understanding strengthens your belief in what is true, leading to your greater obedience to principle and an unshakable confidence in your own true self.

"If you react in a wrong way, you grow in a wrong way. If you react in a right way (by not reacting with emotion at all), you grow from within and unfold like a flower drinking in the sun. "

Sooner or later, your secret life will manifest itself openly. If something evil has been leading you astray, your reactions will have imprinted you with its nature. Your worldly understanding of yourself and of life in general will be composed of excuses to rationalize wickedness.

By your responses you reveal your source of motivation. Obey the wrong impulse at your peril.

Do you want to free yourself from evil’s grasp? Then, you must examine your emotional responses; become aware of what entices, upsets, or excites you. Watch the emotion that rises when you want something too much. Watch the slow boil of anger, pride, and judgment.

As your soul yearns for the truth, Reality will begin to lead you through a series of wordless revelations. Never consult your intellect, lest you be prompted by the devil that lurks down there. Approach each problem with the awareness of Now.

Wait until the time is right for action without submitting the decision to some elaborate reasoning process. Be patient. True life does not filter down through the intellectual processes for you to consult.

Faith is a “mindless” trust in God, the source of the faith impulse; for what is seen is made by what does not appear.

The longing for the ground of one’s being is called love, and its fulfillment is happiness, a heaven on earth. But, even as goodly souls yearn to bond with the source of their being, the corrupt souls also long for what it is that made them evil, and the result is chaos.

True longing, then, draws true fulfillment. The result of acting out an intuitive impulse is a discovery experience called understanding, a greater appreciation of the invisible God who draws you close.
