In the beginning there were two: male and female. It makes little difference whether you view the original pair as fallen (angels) or risen (apes), for the entire human race sprang from them.
As with other higher animals, there were slight differences of appearance in each generation: eyes, hair color, skin texture, and individual pride being what it was (and still is), it seized on this fact to compare itself favorably with others.
Observe your own unconscious inclinations and you will discover that you are still doing this every moment of your life.
It is the nature of pride to esteem itself very highly, to think of itself as a god. From its self-righteous state of mind (viewpoint), pride rejects as well as it looks down on people different from itself.
No matter how degenerate the state it “awakens” (through pain) to find itself in, it always holds this to be the true and proper one. The drunk, the addict and the wife-swapper, all look down with contempt on all the “squares.”
Natural differences, however slight, caused people to gravitate to and breed with others having similar differences. In animals, numbers and sameness engender a common bond of identity and security.
While slight differences allow for the adaptation and survival of the species, selective breeding of those differences can produce many different kinds from the same species, such as the great varieties of cats and dogs that abound.
Recently, scientists produced a line of featherless chickens simply by pairing chickens with less and less plumage until at last they had a naked chicken!
Something similar has happened with the human race. In South Africa the tall Zulus live in the same area as the short Bantus tribe. Years ago when the land was being populated, “small” men were outcasts and objects of contempt and ridicule in the eyes of those big proud warriors (Zulus), who equated large size with greatness.
In similar fashion, “big” men were regarded as clumsy oafs and ugly ducklings among the short-statured “noble minded” Bantus. Deviate-sized individuals were killed or driven away to die in the wilderness, some of them gravitating to the appropriate welcoming group, or forming their own societies.
It is an immutable biological law of genetics for small to beget small, big to beget big, black to beget black, curly to beget curly, freckled to beget freckled, and so on. Proud people are extremely vain about their heritage.
They are sustained in their various prideful and prejudiced identities through their own peculiar cultural rituals.
"It is the nature of pride to esteem itself very highly, to think of itself as a god."
Ethnic background and culture builds both pride and prejudice, while the hypnotic influence of pomp and ceremony maintains conflict with both the Inner Self, and with others.
Whatever form of temptation supports pride also produces animal aggression, and aggression, when not vented in warfare, turns against society and the individual, to become anarchy and civil war, rioting and suicide.
For this reason alone, we can “look forward” to total destruction of all societies when at the same time everyone is crying “Peace, Peace!” in the streets.
Looking down our noses at “inferior” races or peoples gives us the strength we need, to feel as well as think that we are right, while our leaders—defenders of the faith—egg us on, ginger us up, build our egos and provide lowly people as food for our judgments.
Nearly all cultures have their “glorious” hatemongers, figureheads, kings or champions who embody the ancient cultural biases of the people and, as tempters they remind the people of their superiority and inferiority of the despised; they fan the sparks of contempt to consolidate their power over their people.
For this reason you can rarely look to any leader to solve world problems. Solving world problems implies bringing people back to their true identity, which implies that the “services” of leadership would no longer be required.
Remember! The leader always promises to give back to you your lost dignity, power and sense of identity, as well as to solve social problems, when in fact the opposite is the case.
As the races began to multiply, the anxiety of the people grew along with the peculiarities of the culture, the culture which was designed to keep them secure in their pride.
Leaders were forced to devise superstitions and traditions at an accelerating rate, to fight off the “evil spirits” of conscience, and so give added (emotional) “security” to pride. As a result, pride grew more savage and guiltier, so much so that even crazier customs, traditions and superstitions were added to each group.
Exploiting and degrading other races (war), became the means of obtaining power from the vanquished to feed and satisfy the egos of the people, who were in turn exploited by the leadership; so that there never has, or ever can be, any real value in conquest or in the good deeds done in the name of country, race or religion.
