A Match Made In Heaven

Roy Masters

Beware of the “one God, one vote” rhetoric of the serpent. A true democracy is where the majority wills or “votes” for the one God’s rule on this earth. Remember the words of William Penn: “If men do not find God, they will be ruled by tyrants.”

Sensible women seek the dominance of a wise husband. The rest appoint a weak male whom they can dominate and manipulate. In essence, the former relationship is a healthy democracy. After all, a woman doesn’t have to marry.

The latter represents the kind of democracy we have now, where the sinful masses elect idol-politicians who justify them in their sins. In Sodom and Gomorrah, too, everyone had his own lifestyle, and each did what was good in his own eyes—and as a reward for their foolishness, God destroyed them.

So the problem with a democracy is the people. With good people comes a sound, workable democracy. Otherwise, you have a democracy in name only and that begins the nightmare and tyranny of “hypocrisy,” leading to revolution and dictatorship.

Another danger to democracy is the misuse of duly authorized power. Authority must be just. A husband must be considerate of his wife’s real needs as a human being, as well as firm with any foolishness.

If he uses his God-given manly role to oppress and use his wife, then it is a dictatorship, not a marriage. And if the husband is weak, you have a female dictatorship in the name of marriage which leads to the usual rebellion, treason and coups against the tyrant.

"Without perfect integrity, marriage cannot fulfill its proper destiny, and neither can government."

It is not the institution of marriage that is the problem, just as the problem does not lie with democracy or religion per se. Those institutions are basically wholesome and noble, and they are God’s gift to His people.

But when they are misused and misunderstood, you have democracy, marriage and Christianity in name only. They become a system of justice which unjust people hide behind in order to exploit others legally.

That eventually makes many believe that democracy doesn’t work, marriage doesn’t work, religion doesn’t work and free enterprise doesn’t work, and there arises a feeling of wanting to tear it all down. But then what would you have left? Dictatorship without hypocrisy!

Soon after that we would find ourselves in revolt again, setting up another democracy as the man sets up the other woman to support his revolution against his wife.

Sometimes he gets another dictator, and sometimes he is the dictator. Without perfect integrity, marriage cannot fulfill its proper destiny, and neither can government.
