All compulsions to err have their cause in others taking charge of your emotional machinery. No need to repress emotion as long as you reign sovereign over them as the enlightened detached observer.
Surfacing sins will try to frighten and challenge you to a struggle, so don’t fall for that through being upset with whatever surfaces. Anger strengthens the bondage and gives power to problems. Hold your ground and soon you will be free. Resent not evil, overcome it with good
So, face your guilts. Come now toward the cleansing pain threshold of conscience. Be patient and allow time and the heavenly friction to do their work. Allow the good pressure to build inside you.
Do you see how you live between the two choices of pressure: one is of the world and the other is the pressure from your conscience?
Choose, therefore, to be still and let the pressure of conscience prevail, come in and transform you from within.
Let go and let God. Don’t be frustrated with helpless feelings, for they are the appropriate wordless cries of your soul’s rebirth. Shame may intensify before salvation comes.
What might appear to be suggestion during meditation is not intended to be so. My words should bear witness to the obvious. Grasp hold of what you already know but have not trusted. If you learn me by rote, the words used in this meditation exercise will cause you remain stuck with me as an actor on the stage of life.
I do not wish to be your authority, only a guide to the gate within. There is a huge difference between religious excitement and true religious experience. Religious emotions, confused with inspiration, produce only false feelings of salvation, preventing real experiences.
Most people live out a mesmerized existence, secure in their programmed and perhaps pious behavior. Like alcoholics without their fix, environment word-dependent people re-experience their uncured guilt. Not only were they never or rarely saved by attending church, they were made worse through being justified into living longer “wronger.”
You may possibly become angry toward me because you may have misused the meditation. Perhaps you hoped that it would do something for you, whereas it only revealed problems you did not know how or want to face. Now through humility, your soul’s needs will be met.
If listening to this meditation exercise were intended to make you belong to some external order, you would never get better. Those who make this mistake tend to play the blame game rather than admit the misuse of this instruction.
It is not unusual to be angry because you have projected hostility for your father toward me. If this is the case, you need only to see this so.
Forbear to fall prey to anyone’s will with a will of your own. The motivations of the prideful differ from the humble soul.
The proud person uses resentment for the power to win at all costs, as well as for the denial of their guilts. So don’t be so concerned about outcome; your future will be assured through small steps of unnoticed kindness and patience.
Love never imposes will. Love waited for you to give your self freely. Be still and stop running. Let conscience catch up. The less you struggle, the better things will work through you.
When emotions no longer cloud the mind, judgment purifies into discernment. You will perceive as well as see through your eyes. This second sight carries an effect like that of the sun; It makes character flower.
When you were a child you could see in two dimensions. As you grew, the pressures of life rose up, clouding a guiding perception with angry judgments. The “lamp unto your feet” faded. The wordless friction of anxiety followed as conscience and you began to think of conscience as your enemy.
"Love never imposes will. Love waited for you to give your self freely."
You wasted your energy putting out the light that exposed your deformed self. We all have physical eyes to see where we are going. But the light that shines through human eyes gives us the dimension of perception unavailable to beasts.
This second sight is a special gift showing the perfect way of living and resolving problems. The light distinguishes right from wrong and illuminates a yet unseen heavenly pathway. Conscience never was your enemy.
While you were turned upside down by worldly affections, you were manipulated by their dark purpose. You felt in control, but in reality you were a puppet of pleasure and pain. The light now outlines the dark self’s allegiance to a world opposed to God. This “not-you” is an identity that thinks and lives through you, as if it were you.
It felt as though it was you originating those wicked thoughts and feelings. That is why you could not change the way you thought and blamed yourself too harshly.
Pride is a counterfeit spirit of relative reality. Compared to someone’s greater wrong, you felt vindicated. Yet, when you took blame, ego trapped you into self-judgment and also helped you wallow in the dark, velvety self-pity of the bottomless pit.
On a final note, bear in mind that the meditation exercise is only a road map, a means to an end. The process of imagery is designed to integrate a chain reaction of responses initiated by the awakening. If and when your hand begins to rise, it is evidence of an energy value originating from within.
But once you discover that the concentration to the middle of your forehead can effect the effortless obedience to common sense, then imagery, while still valuable, may not be absolutely necessary. Once the principle is proven, worrying about whether your hand should rise might actually inhibit the appearance of new understanding.
Attention to the middle of the forehead does not imply any physical movement of the eyes. Looking upward might cause eyestrain and headaches. This important technicality may mark the fine line of difference between success and frustration.
Just being aware of the patterns of light and color you see in your mind allows you to project a warm, tingling sensation into your hand. When silly images and thoughts start dancing in your mind to distract you from the process of observing them, simply superimpose the light patterns over them.
These patterns of light represent, in a manner of speaking, new programming; they affect every cell and fiber in your being. As they reverse the negative effects of pressure that effect your body and mind adversely, they impart new life and purpose.
The evidence of a higher presence in meditation is a change in breathing. If you were under outside pressure and responded to it, your breathing would manifest this impact also.
There will be some pain and tears. Do not be upset by what you see, just acknowledge your sins and mysteriously you’ll feel release of bondage. Should you fall to any judgment, all those guilts and anxieties will come rushing back. Forgive, be patient with the faults of others from now on, and you will be forgiven.
As you become accustomed to your new state of awareness, wisdom should maintain that relationship with your Creator by practicing this procedure three times daily: morning, noon and night.
