Roy Masters
Here I am again--seven weeks after surgery, almost fit as a fiddle, and happy to be alive and kicking. I know that I have been given this extra time to help bring this country around, not only on an individual basis as I have been doing for some time, but collectively, to make this country a better place to live. And because America is important and powerful in its leadership role, I might thus bring enlightenment to the whole world.
I know that I have this knowledge, and I exist now only for one purpose: to deliver that message-- the message of awakening. I want to provide you with the ultimate secret of life, but I must warn you that you might not be able to hear it no matter how many times I tell it to you.
Have you ever seen one of those pictures containing a hidden message that makes you focus your eyes in a special way if you want to see it? Finally, after many refocussings and blinkings, you see it. Ah, you wonder how could you have missed it.
Well, you might react in a similar way to my presentation. Some of you will grasp it instantly; others, no matter how many times I explain it, will be unable to hear it. Well, maybe one day, after great suffering.
I have to tell you that I have four sons and a daughter and none of them have got it yet, not even David, whom you have heard often, even though he is very good at what he does. He still does not quite get what I am about to tell you. And you might not get it either. You might not hear what I have to say. But I'm going to say it anyway.
Now, let me whet your appetite. I have three other sons and a daughter, and they haven't got it yet. My wife hasn't got it yet. My daughters-in-law don't have it yet. And they are all nice people--don't get me wrong--knowledgeable, smart, and intuitive.
"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness..."
But I'm going to talk to you about the secret of life, the secret of all secrets, and if you have ears to hear it, you will. And if you don't have the ground to receive it, you won't. That doesn't mean to say that you are a bad person, or that there is something wrong with you.
It takes time, but every now and then, I have to take a stab at the root of all roots, so bear with me. Don't struggle or try to grasp it; either you will hear it or you won't.
Clue number one: the man two thousand years ago is the only person to say it. He said, "love God, and your neighbor as yourself, and upon these two laws rest all the laws." Now, what does that mean?
I could tell you in seconds--like E=mc squared--but it's too simple. Nobody understands what that is. You might not understand it even if it's explained. You have to have a mind, a searching mind, and only a very sincere searching mind can grasp the significance of it. Mere education does not cut it.
Now, although I've had this blessing, and it is a blessing, most of my life, I didn't recognize it--I didn't see what I had in the way I'm about to explain it to you. After all these years, even most Christians fail to understand and appreciate what the heaven Christ was talking about.
He compressed so much into those simple words that it's hard to dig out and understand the wealth of meaning they encompass. The words say it, but they are so condensed that you must have a true hunger for understanding to grasp them, even as you need a love for science to understand Einstein.
The simple equation covers such a broad range of information that its meaning may elude you. And so it is with the words of Jesus; you must hunger and thirst after the right way--blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, whatever that means, for they shall be filled.
If you were interested in science, you would hunger and thirst to understand mathematics and the universe, and in so doing you would slowly but surely be fulfilled. And then, when someone said E=mc squared, you would know exactly what it meant, and more. You know that one and one make two and two and two make four and four and four make eight, and eight and one make nine.
You have the basic knowledge you need to know all there is to know about mathematics and algebra. But before you knew and understood what one and one was, the rest would have no meaning to you.
So it is with loving God and your neighbor as yourself--upon these two laws rest all of the laws--everything: your whole happiness, your future, whatever is to come and whatever you are to be, whatever the world is going to be through you, your happiness, your health.
