Transcendental Meditation Techniques
Many forms of meditation are concerned with helping people to reach higher states of consciousness. If you're looking for a greater connection to your inner self and the people in your life, meditation may be right for you. If you want to receive all the benefits of meditation, it's common to practice twice a day for 20 minutes at a time.
Transcendental meditation is one particular type of meditation popular among devotees of Eastern religion. Studies have been conducted showing the link between this style of meditation and improvements in a variety of different medical conditions; however, although symptoms may lessen or vanish, it doesn't mean the root cause has disappeared. In fact, this type of meditation often simply masks the real problem.
At the Foundation of Human Understanding, we promote a different style of meditation called "Be Still and Know." Developed by Roy Masters, this style of meditation aims to overcome anger or pain by observing its true cause and then rising above it. The symptoms of illnesses such as cancer, depression, or alcoholism are often prompted by the body's incorrect reaction to a situation or a particular influence. This reaction produces doubt and worry, which manifest themselves physically as symptoms that make you uncomfortable. Until you change the way your body reacts to stressors or unfamiliar situations, these symptoms will keep reappearing in various guises.
"Be Still and Know" can help you to find an objective state of grace that lets you correct your body's reaction. Physical symptoms, stress, anger, and more will no longer control your life. With the tools we offer, you'll learn to address negative thinking and break the hypnotic cycles caused by those thoughts.
