Meditation Retreats
Meditation isn't something you need to attend a retreat in order to learn. Retreats can double as a fun vacation or a luxurious spa-type getaway, but in terms of learning techniques for effective meditation, there isn't anything you'll find at a retreat that you can't also find in your own area.
In its own way, the practice of meditation is a daily emotional retreat. You don't have to travel all over the world to get away from the stress of your life. Rather than running away from your fears or denying your problems, meditation can actually help you to face reality. This acceptance of the truth is one of the most liberating activities any of us will ever experience. When we let go of our old ideas and stop letting negativity rule our lives, we have a new sense of freedom many of us never thought possible.
You've probably heard the saying, "The truth will set you free." When you practice the "Be Still and Know" meditation, that's exactly what happens. Rather than dwelling on your old ideas about yourself, this type of meditation forces you to take a long hard look at the facts, and to learn how to face the reality of your life in a loving and realistic manner.
Over time, you'll develop a healthier relationship with yourself and with others. You can learn to overcome anger by rising above what causes it.
