says-in Psalms 1: 15--"1 will meditate on thy precepts." Meditation scripturally, Roy, is a positive meditation of verbalized promise.

ROY: But you have to ask the question, "What is meditation?"You must be very, very careful about this, because you can meditate hypnotically, ftx upon a scriptural concept, or a godly sound, in a way that makes you mechanical and rigid, thanks to your being hypnotized. Or you can meditate on the Word of the Lord through being perfectly still and standing apart from memory, waiting for revelation to in­spire, to enter in from that inner way, so that the Word is in breathed, natural, and not mechanically, externally induced. This is where rote religion has failed people.

MAN: But the Bible does say, "Study to show yourself ap­proved of God, rightly dividing the Word of Truth."

ROY: Yes, dividing the understanding, discerning the meaning apart from its word, from its sound or word-vehicle. There would be some difference in my interpretation, because there are other Scriptures which say. . .

MAN: That is an intellectual analysis of biblical Truth. As 1 see it, and to put it as nicely as 1 can, you really are coming from some spiritual direction other than the Scriptures, for example, or a Jewish or Christian background. I see it as a presupposition on your part that Jews and Christians are parrots or machines because the structure is so common. Because I have an Existentialist background, when I hear you,
