                                                                           Barriers to Understanding

    Culture is the snake in the grass, the once-removed serpent of old. A little bit of the nature of your corrupting source passes from generation to generation, and once it worms its way inside you, it becomes word-hungry. It is an embryonic evil, to be nurtured on deceit and the knowledge substance of glory. If you rebel against knowledge and learning, it is because you can feel the trespass, the horrible, dead spirit of rote raping your mind.

MAN: The amazing thing is that the same thing happens to some people who blank their minds out. I know of cases of foreign beings entering people because of meditation, where they oppose language also but their mind becomes blank-like in the Hare Krishna movement, where they chant. And the Transcendental meditation blanks out their minds, except for a mantra, which is really the name of a Hindu-­

MAN: God, yes1 Some of them have been demon-possessed. They are anti-rational and anti-language as well.

ROY: The reason is that language violates the soul, and once the demon of language gets inside, if you don't know how to deal with it, it talks to you and compels you to complete itself to its source. In ignorance, you do what appears to be the solution. You blank out the language, but if you
