own conscience; but if a spark of Truth is in there searching, your love will find him and wake him to embrace meaning, and in believing, his soul will be sanctified.
     Wrong people, children of the lie, use holy words and their station in church or government to confound, confuse, and enslave. Your only defense against them is your understanding and your faith in what you know in your heart.
     We often react not so much to the words as to the in­tent behind the words. Their negative impact is amplified when you realize that people are courting your good opinion of them for the sole purpose of using you. If you can see the situation as it is, without resenting your opponent or allowing doubt to creep into your own faith, you will not be so adversely affected.
     It is the twin sin of doubting yourself and resenting the adversary that does the damage.
     Conquer resentment and doubt. Hold fast to what you know deep in your heart. Don't be challenged by the greater intellect of your opponent. So what if you can't come up with a better argument? Remain silent and unconcerned; don't try to come up with a better line. It is enough to know that what you know is right; convey that truth through silence and poise. Let the adversary work himself to death trying to convince or confuse you. Remain of the same opinion still, with a twinkle in your eyes. Above all, don't answer emotion with emotion.
     No matter how you look at it, the core of the adversary's egocentric life is his belief in a lie. That belief sustains him even when he believes the "gospel" truth. He may believe in the
