Secret Power of Words                                 Words of Knowledge:
                                                                           Barriers to Understanding

"by the book," "praying" yourself out of every mess while your loved ones look on in disgust.
Charlatans of all kinds are well aware of our universal tendency to get "hooked" on words when we allow our word-hungry souls to become emotionally involved with them, so bear in mind that words without meaning are merely sounds that affect nothing. The word is the tool through which the speaker communicates an idea. The essence of the word is the meaning it has for the speaker. The word is the bow, and the arrow is the meaning.
Words from great and wise men can be used to project harm and create confusion. You can say one thing yet mean another, while only the person intended to get the message may see and react to the twist of meaning. Wicked people very often dress up in Bible words and wreak devastation through their preaching.
Scriptures may be given meaning they do not really have. Consequently, when the false meaning is followed, a madness, a violence, a hypocrisy appears, masquerading as religion or science. From this, you see how important it is to be able to perceive meaning for yourself It is your only defense against the violation of your mind by what I call the "destroyer." Perception is a real force for good and a protection from the barbed darts of evil.
The worst twist of meaning that exists today is the distorted notion that Jesus is God. First of all, if it is true that man is a fallen being, and that God's plan is to reconcile man to Himself through believing in Jesus, we had better be very careful about what it is about the man and his teaching He wants us to believe, because that belief could as easily kill as cure us.
