pride that caused you to cling to knowledge as the way to Truth. So, the first understanding must be of your sin. You must have a full and intimate awareness of your bondage to the spirit of knowledge and its deception before you will be able to let go of it.
     Beware of the "Hey, listen to this guy" routine, though, as you start to wake up as the result of my teachings. You may tend to get overexcited, too eager to share your new insights with friends. Beware of "amening" me and coming to my lectures to study and memorize what I say. Beware of identifying with my "knowledge" the fruit of my under­standing, lest you be caught up with me in the same way you have always been caught up with "outside" truth. Remember that the letter of the word can kill. It is the spirit of the word, the understanding of the principle, that you want to experience for yourself.
     If you get caught up emotionally with me or anyone else, your intellectual storehouse of facts may grow, but you will become steadily worse. Knowledge cannot help you to grow up to a higher plane of consciousness. The most intellectual, "successful" people in society are often the most perverted. Pure intellectual knowledge, the kind ego thrives on, always causes growth on a lower animal level. Sure, you may be deep into verses and chapters, and you may preach and research the lives and words of holy men until you're blue in the face, yet you will never go where they were coming from. Knowledge always makes for pride, and the substance of the beast!
     Your life will continue to be a disaster. You will use knowledge to rationalize sin, setting yourself up for failure
