Barriers to Understanding
to move you, or on intellectual knowledge to make decisions, then not only do you become more confused, but you also become more guilty in the bargain, and thus more automatically conditioned to doubt what is right.
Life could be so simple if you believed only in your common sense. Look, common sense always follows you in hindsight, producing the conflict with wordless Truth that you feel as guilt. But how have you dealt with these guilts? How have you been getting along with your conscience? Do you see it as a friend? Of course not. You set it aside, thanks to some idea that involved you emotionally, and while you were doing your thing, you were completely unaware of the harm you were doing to yourself You couldn't understand because the false confidence of your "thinking processes" was in charge. You "thought" you knew; but you were too deeply involved in the feeling/thought mode to realize the mistake you were poised to make. The spirit of intellect took over and guided your actions. You began to worry and to evoke the thinking processes you trusted, and your misplaced trust again rewarded you by getting you deeper into trouble instead of solving your problems.
The Spirit within is always pulling one way, while the spirit of pure intellect has won and moved you another. Another self is inside you: pride. the "brainchild" of our original corruption. And this intellectual self is very strong and convincing. It keeps making you trust in your" own" cleverness.
Instead of listening to the inner voiceless "voice" of pain and shame, you're always listening to the chorus that "saves" you with a drink, drugs, sex, money; or education. It all seems
