                                                                           Barriers to Understanding

to do is wait quietly. Do not struggle to commit anything to memory. Then, understanding comes and a wonderful change occurs in your consciousness. Words and deeds will begin to flow naturally and effortlessly, as though someone else were acting through you and you were a bystander. The faith and joy you find in pure knowing is sufficient unto it­self Realize that you know without knowing why you know, and accept it. "Inhale" it deeply and breathe a sigh of relief If you experience moments of unsureness, just wait to understand and things will clear; be patient while you wait for the Light to illuminate your path. Wait for that "Ah-hah! now I understand" experience. It signals the inbreathing of the spirit, His Will working in and through you.
     The strictly academic, intellectual approach can never work on the soul's problems. Your intellect may well have the power to assemble airplanes and ships, repair lawn mowers and things, but living matter is something else. You are God's living matter; look only to Him for your correction.
     We are fashioned from different "stuf£" out of a system different from conventional knowledge, which is all we have ever known. The moment you begin to realize the worthlessness of simply remembering and assembling mere facts will be the beginning of your enlightenment. You must re­experience the understanding that knowledge has seduced you into forgetting. Understanding is living knowledge, the knowledge that quickens the spirit and wakes us to life.
To resolve inner conflict, you must journey again to the source within yourself that you have forgotten, never again doubting that it is there. By making us doubt, the spirit of knowledge replaced our understanding with memories and facts, which,
