Barriers to Understanding

 

 

 

    We should never attempt to impart knowledge to another person by force of will or effort. We should present the facts as clearly as possible, but then the teacher should wait for the student's understanding to take over. Once understanding has been awakened in the student, that understanding does the teacher's work for him.
    The mere possession of knowledge-intellectual knowledge, let's say, of spiritual principles-cannot make a person better, but it might tempt him to become a phony hypocrite. Superficially, you might do the right thing as the result of having such knowledge, but you won't feel right about being right. Deep down, you will be aware that this "learned behavior" is just a facade. You won't be able to stand your own phoniness. You not only deceives others, but you will also hurt yourself
